School Council and school leadership

At Park View, we believe that leadership is an important skill for pupils to acquire. As a result, we provide diverse opportunities to take a lead in everyday learning. We have a school council who, alongside our pupil voice committees, evaluate our school and use Council meetings to discuss issues such as safeguarding, how pupils learn and gather pupils’ views on their well being.

Pupils are also delegated key roles such as running our reward shop or setting up sports activities at break time. This encourages children to take ownership of our school as a collective enterprise, which we all contribute to and try to improve.

Our school council members campaigned to be elected by their peers, using their persuasion and oracy skills. Below is an example of one of our Year 5 children convincing her classmates to choose her to represent them.
