Talk for Writing Training

15th October 2013

Yet another amazing training day!

Our very talented Vice Principal, Sam Collier has delivered training on talk for writing today. All our teachers, plus teachers from St Patrick's Primary in Elland and Hatfield Woodhouse Academy have enjoyed looking at ways to support the children's learning through talk.

We particularly enjoyed looking at how to use a fantasy setting to create enthusiasm for non-fiction texts.

I'm so proud of the way our teachers have been working with others and a ready to take on new strategies to help the children in their classes learn.

Thank you and well done to our staff team 😄

As literacy is very much my 'thing' I'm thrilled to read your blog on the inventiveness and talented approaches to developing literacy. Your investment in the staffs CPD is certainly paying dividends when I watched your short video on the creative book corners. Outstanding environments that promote the love of learning is to be commended and shared! Your approaches to literacy and in particular the development of innovative learning book corners should be celebrated more widely. Well done!

The space themed literacy was a success for Miss Stanley's class and the children loved the stunning role play rocket ship! :-)
