Dear Mrs N.
Thank you for your response to our twitter and blog. We are thoroughly enjoying our research so far and it would be a pleasure to help you and your class learn about Sasquatch too. We are also researching The Loch Ness Monster. Do you or your class know anything about it? We hope you are having a good day.

Hello Park View.
I teach Y6 at a school on the south coast and found your blog via twitter. I have been reading all your fascinating facts about Sasquatch. You've done some fantastic research. Would you mind if my class read all about it because we will be finding out about yetis ourselves after half term?
Keep up the good work.

I have also just watched the Bigfoot Files. How fascinating to think that the yeti is a hybrid of a polar bear and a brown bear. I wonder what they will discover on next week's episode about Sasquatch. Could it too be a hybrid or is it an entirely different species of its own?

Nathan yr5October 20, 2013 at 9:07 pm

I have just watched Bigfoot files and found out that Bigfoot could be a mix between a polar bear and a brown bear! The DNA samples say that it is a polar bear however the brown bear has the perfect diet to fit the Himalayas.

Miss CollierOctober 20, 2013 at 9:02 pm

So it seems the yeti does indeed exist but it a type of ancient polar bear....does that mean that it is more likely that Bigfoot is real too?

Mrs ShepherdOctober 20, 2013 at 8:55 pm

I am very excited about how much information (and opinions) you are going to bring in this week! We will be Park View Squatchers!! :-)

Miss CollierOctober 19, 2013 at 11:13 am

Hello everyone - great to see we are rising to the challenge! Just to let you know we are being followed on twitter by an amazing school in the Highlands of Scotland. They are about 2 hours from Loch Ness. I wonder if any of the pupils have been there and if they saw anything?

Miss PickardOctober 19, 2013 at 10:56 am

Dear Class 6,

I continue to be thrilled with your enthusiasm for Bigfoot and blogging!

Reading your comments shows me you're engaged in your learning and I can tell you are putting huge effort into your reasearch.

However, I can't help but notice that I am reading the same things in many of your comments. Can I suggest that you read other children's comments before you post. Also, you are amazing writers so, whilst it's always a good idea to copy facts and magpie ideas, I would love you to add your own thoughts too. This means that you will be posting much more original comments and you will keep all your readers interested and keen to learn more.

I hope this helps in your quest to find out if Sasquatch really does exist!

Bigfoot is described in reports as a large hairy ape-like creature, in a range of 2–3 m (6.6-9.8 ft) tall, weighing in excess of 500 pounds (230 kg), and covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair.[5][10] Purported witnesses have described large eyes, a pronounced brow ridge, and a large, low-set forehead; the top of the head has been described as rounded and crested, similar to the sagittal crest of the male gorilla. Bigfoot is commonly reported to have a strong, unpleasant smell by those who claim to have encountered it.[11] The enormous footprints for which it is named have been as large as 24 inches (60 cm) long and 8 inches (20 cm) wide.[10] While most casts have five toes — like all known apes — some casts of alleged Bigfoot tracks have had numbers ranging from two to six.[12] Some have also contained claw marks, making it likely that a portion came from known animals such as bears, which have five toes and claws.[13][14] Proponents claim that Bigfoot is omnivorous and mainly nocturnal.[1

Genetically speaking they are probably the same creature or very closely related. Eye witnesses describe Bigfoot as slightly taller and having black/brown hair as opposed to white hair of the Yeti. That makes sense considering their different habitats. They both are bipedel, or walk upright, like humans, not like other great apes like chimps or gorillas.

sameer yr5October 18, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Most scientists discount the existence of Bigfoot and consider it to be a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than a living animal, because of the lack of physical evidence and the large numbers of creatures that would be necessary to maintain a breeding population. A few scientists, such as Jane Goodall, Grover Krantz, and Jeffrey Meldrum, have expressed interest and some measure of belief in the creature.

Will you all be watching Channel 4 on Sunday at 8pm - Mark Evans and geneticist Bryan Sykes examine the legend of Bigfoot, using DNA testing to determine if he's a hominid, an ape or just a hoax

TaissaOctober 18, 2013 at 10:35 am

Scientists belive that bigfoot/sasquach is real. Some people beleve and have seen it but some who don't beleve but have also seen it.

Will we ever uncover the mystery of big foot/sasquatch?

Luqman HussainOctober 18, 2013 at 10:35 am

Bigfoot, also known as sasquatch, is the name given to an ape- or hominid-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid.

While many bigfoot stastics can be brushed aside as merely hypothetical, some facts rise above the rest as undisputed, hard truth.

Hello Miss Pickard,
Sasquatch is the same as Bigfoot just so you know. We will be writing a balanced argument about whether Bigfoot exists or not. I would love to come and show you when I have written it.

People think that big foot is real yet other people think he is not real.

Big foot is extremely hairy however his face and hands are not.

Shakeel MohammadOctober 17, 2013 at 7:17 pm

It is very excellent and I hope they it will be tidy everyday!!!!!!!.

Zakib KhanOctober 17, 2013 at 7:13 pm

Watch out anyone who lives next to a forest because bigfoot can come for you! So if i were you, I would research how to get rid of bigfoot!

Miss PickardOctober 17, 2013 at 7:06 pm

Don't worry Zakib. I'm sure you're perfectly safe in Leeds, as I believe (from reading previous comments) that Bigfoot lives on another continent.

Zakib KhanOctober 17, 2013 at 7:00 pm

I have seen scary footage of bigfoot so researching about it is going to be a real threat!

Miss CollierOctober 17, 2013 at 6:42 pm
