Book Day

31st March 2014

Today we had great fun dressing as our favourite  book characters - especially the teachers! Roald Dahl seems to be a favourite among children and staff alike as we saw: 2 oompa lumpas, The Twits, Willy Wonka, The Grand High Witch and The Enormous Crocodile.

All the classes enjoyed a day of book themed learning and every child had the chance to receive a free book!

Our children and staff are passionate about books and thanks to the money we raised today - we added to our lovely class book corners.

Thank you to everyone for joining in with such enthusiasm!

Wow! What a fun book day you all had! I'm passionate about books too and have many favourite authors. I recognised all your book characters and would have enjoyed meeting some of your teachers in their colourful costumes. Please share your favourite books and tell me what you enjoy about them. Happy reading Liz

Book day was fun! We leaned about fairytales all day. We made beanstalks and measured them, we mixed up fairy tales and wrote our own story on special fairytale paper!

Year 5 had a fantastic time reading The Flower Man. We followed many of the characters over the course of the book and discovered that each one had an individual story to tell. The circumstances of character gradually merged to tell one over all story. We found the detail amazing and captivating!
