Sports Premium

The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 to improve provision of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and is being allocated to all primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision for PE and sport in schools.

At Park View Primary, we have identified several areas to improve and enhance through the use of Sport Premium funding, in order to raise participation and achievement for all pupils in PE, sport and physical activity.

Our PE Vision:

  • Be Proud of our sporting achievements
  • Have a Positive attitude towards physical activity
  • Make Productive choices in our lives.

Sports Premium

Our total funding for 2016-2017 is £8905.

Our identified priorities for 2016/2017 are:

  1. Improve the quality of PE within  school

  2. Increase pupil participation and opportunities in extra-curricular activities

  3. Increase the amount of physical activity daily.

Real PE

We have used the sports premium to invest in Real PE. The Real PE programme provides fun and simple PE lessons for Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 practitioners that give them the confidence and skills to deliver outstanding PE. It is fully aligned to the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements and focuses on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique and market leading approach to teaching and learning in PE.

The Sports Premium will also be used to supply the equipment that the Real PE programme requires to run effectively throughout the school.

Active Schools

We have also used some of funding to become part of the ‘Active Schools’ partnership, which enables us to have access to membership for ‘Youth Sport Trust’ and a designated Sainsbury’s School Games Coordinator for South and Central Leeds.

Jess Cluster

We are also members of the JESS cluster which means which will compete with other primary schools around the local area at the South Leeds Academy. See the PE notice board in the hall for information regarding fixtures and upcoming events.

This year we will be providing at least one extra-curricular club each half-term. These will run in-line with the JESS cluster events so that we are prepared for each competition.

We will be running the following clubs after school:

Half Term 1 - Athletics

Half Term 2 - Tennis

Half Term 3 - Tag Rugby

Half Term 4 -Basketball

Half Term 5 - Football

Half Term 6 - Rounders

Other activities will be running throughout the year (on the PE noticeboard). We will also be using some of the sport premium to assist with extra curricular clubs and also dinner time clubs.
